Miracles are extraordinary, awe-inspiring events that reveal a message or confirm a truth. They are God’s power displayed in the human world to attract our attention and draw us to Him.

They are mighty works of power that can change the course of history. The Bible records many examples of miracles in the lives of people who walked with and trusted Jesus. These miracles prove that God is real and still working in our world today.

The word miracle means “an event that violates the laws of nature” or is beyond normal human capability. It is a supernatural display of God’s power that makes the world a better place to live, confirming the message that Jesus brought.

Some people claim to perform miracles, yet their claims are usually inconsistent with biblical teaching. For example, the followers of Christian Science, Mormonism, Catholicism, Transcendental Meditation, Yoga, Psychic Healing, Scientology, and New Age Crystal Healing claim to have supernatural powers. These people often say that if you have enough faith then the Lord will do miracles through you. However, the Bible clearly states that God will not respond to no faith at all. It is not enough to simply ask for a miracle; you must believe what God has said in His Word and trust that He will do what He says.

God is always at work taking all the bad things in our world—global pandemics, wars, poverty, hunger, unjust treatment of others, abuse, sickness, not having the things you need, depression, bullying, and broken friendships and families—and turning them into freedom, hope, peace, and people choosing to follow Jesus. This is a miracle that no evil can take away.

The miracles that Jesus did were objective demonstrations. The water He turned into wine could be tasted; Thomas was able to touch the prints in His hands when He rose from the dead; and the restored ear of the high priest’s servant could be touched (Luke 22:51). The fact that the miracles happened in front of witnesses is a further proof that they were not simply subjective speculations.

If you are a candidate for a miracle, it is because you have a problem that is so big that you know that only God can help you. This shows that you are willing to let Him use you to accomplish His purposes. God will do a miracle when it is in His best interests to do so. This does not mean that He will do it the way you want Him to; instead, he will work miracles in your life in a way that brings glory to Him. Trust that He is good all the time and that He will never stop working miracles in your life.
